The Twin Cities are nestled in the beautiful rolling foothills of the Appalachians. Tuscarawas County is one of the top counties in the state for deer and other wild game. Many nearby lakes and resorts offer opportunities for boating, camping, fishing and golf.
The Uhrichsville Water Park will be over 18,000 square feet of water area and will include a water playground with swings and sliding boards for children in the pool, raft slides, twisting body slides, fountains, swim lanes, toddlers play/swim area, concession stand, and bathhouse. The city broke ground on the Park in September, 2007 with a planned completion date of May 1, 2008. The Water Park is scheduled to open Saturday, May 24, 2008. Rates and memberships are available by contacting the Mayor's office at (740) 922-1242 or stop by the City Hall, 305 E. Second St., Uhrichsville. You can also visit the park website for ticket information and season passes.
Dennison Park consists of a basketball court, tennis court, picnic shelters, community pool, and playground equipment. The Uhrichsville Park includes basketball courts, tennis courts, a gazebo, picnic shelters, baseball field, community swimming pool, and playground equipment.
Several professional sport teams as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton are within a short drive.
Nearby tourist attractions include the historic Schoenbrunn Village, the “Trumpet in the Land ” amphitheater, the Mooney Warther Museum and Amish country.
The Tuscarawas County Genealogical Society is located at 307 Center Street in Dennison. The society was founded in 1968 in New Philadelphia, and possesses an astounding collection of early Tuscarawas County historical documents, as well as Moravian history. Members can research records which include county court records, birth and death certificates, marriage certificates, deeds, wills, etc. These documents can be accessed both on microfilm and original documents. The society houses over 6,000 books of local historical information, including newspapers from Dennison, Uhrichsville, Newcomerstown, Strasburg, and Sugarcreek.
